Growing with them: supporting working parents in early parenthood yearsAbout
I am a researcher, coach and trainer with a passion for understanding and navigating complex, systemic and transformative experiences in healthy, fair and enriching ways.
My focus is on parental mental health, as parenthood is perhaps the most common of such complex experiences, and yet is so unique, fragile, divisive, often misunderstood and still poorly understood. One thing we know is that being a parent can be truly stupendous…and equally crushing. We might feel lost, overwhelmed, unable to our be our best and whole selves, both in the workplace and at home.
I craft interactive and informative talks and small group workshops for all working parents (biological and non-biological) that expect or care for preschool children (0-5 year olds), and those who work in close contact with parents.
My interventions blend together
- a review of science- and evidence-based knowledge on maternal, paternal and parental health
- a space for self-reflection on one own experience
- facilitated peer connection and dialogue on the challenges and benefits of being a working parent
and aim to help participants to
- Access, understand and celebrate their own story, openly and without judgment
- Gain knowledge on drivers and solutions of parental mental health
- Assess their current life experience, with a focus on stress and positive influences and on tipping points, both positive and negative
- Pinpoint areas of reinforcement and intervention, formulate and implement action plans
- Understand the experience, and learn the basics of peer support for family, friends and colleagues in their early parenthood years
I truly believe that the data and the numbers can only a show a tiny part of the picture, and that there is so much to gain in exposing ourselves to the diversity of parental experiences, openly exchanging our stories, and finding compassion and connection with others and ourselves.
